About Lisa

In the early 1980’s I studied Art History and Photography at Southeastern Massachusetts University. I was captivated by the black and white imagery of early 20th Century photography pioneers like Alfred Stieglitz and Dorthea Lange. The full-color moments of life they captured, and preserved, in richly satisfying grayscale made an indelible mark on me.

Marriage and motherhood took priority over my camera. I did dabble in other mediums over the years but it wasn’t until I discovered tapestry weaving in 2017, that the passion I’d felt for photography was reawakened. I have been weaving nearly every day since.

It is a provocative dance that takes place between warp, weft and weaver. I like to think I lead the dance, but it is more true that I am led by the will of the fibers as I pursue the results I envision. The outcome isn’t always what I planned but the dance is a delight.

If you’d like to learn more about how my tapestry journey began, you can read this. And if you’d like to know more about tapestry weaving, I suggest you watch this 5-minute video produced by the America Tapestry Alliance. It provides an excellent overview of this ancient craft.
